I’m back, it has been a long time since I have felt creative enough to write a blog. As I was driving over to the Muskoka Cranberry Marsh to have a little outing/hike, my son David called and said “mom why don’t you do your blogs anymore?”. Truthfully life got in the way, things got in the way. Covid ouchie, that shut down so much of life. 3 new grandsons to go with my oldest kept me pretty busy. An injury to my back put me in (and still in) a funk. Well you know what, the boys are getting older, my back is improving and things are still wacky in the world. I bought a new camera which isn’t as heavy as my old one and I am in the mood to use it.
It is also time to edit my pictures, 42,000 on my phone alone, probably 1000 baseball/soccer/hockey videos LOL – can’t delete them. Lots of other junk to get rid of. What wonderful memories I have been enjoying as these November nights start to close in. This has now spurred me on to take pictures and hopefully write more blogs.
Today was a trip to the Muskoka Cranberry Marsh, yes I missed the harvest. My calendar for next September has an entry to head over again then. I found it spectacular today, can’t imagine when all the cranberries are waiting to be picked.

There are multiple hikes, I did the silver one around the lake, it was a trail right through the forest, a little muddy but on the whole an easy walk if you kept track of your feet lol. I did not want to trip on the many beautiful roots crisscrossing the path or the rocks popping up. Little information plaques kept appearing. Bears are around but more chance of seeing their claw marks on the trees than actually seeing a bear. Wasn’t impressed that there were Massassauga Rattlers, would definitely take a bear over them. A beaver was swimming through one of the ponds, not only are they very quick, but in order to scare you away, they whack their tail on the water. I thought I had been shot, it was so loud, definitely made me move my feet a little faster.

My feet kept walking right up to the gift shop. Picked up some 100% cranberry juice with no additives that I can’t wait to try, and also a couple of Christmas things. Every Christmas and Thanksgiving our cranberry sauce is made from these cranberries – delish. It was interesting to know that they are open all year, with a skating trail, snowshoe trails and lovely fireplaces around the property and a lovely little restaurant. I will definitely be back.
