Every year we wish we could get up to Muskoka more often, but life gets in the way. We now have 3 grandsons playing hockey (and 1 just waiting) how can we miss a game/practice lol. This was the weekend and what a spectacular weekend it has turned out to be. Temperatures are hovering around zero, a little grey, but with all the shoveling we have to do, that is ok.
Off we went for a coffee and a chocolate donut from The Bakery in Gravenhurst, they are just a little bit of heaven. Made sure to get an extra for Valentines dinner. Plan was to bbq steaks but too much snow on the deck lol and the door won’t open from the weight of the snow on the lock. Thank goodness for cast iron pans. Here are a few pics of the snow that was waiting for us when we got here last night.

I took my camera, managed about 10 photos when the battery went, grrrrr that is the 2nd time that has happened. Thank goodness for my phone.
Our first stop was Gravenhurst. Impossible to stop at the Wharf and not take a picture of our beautiful steamships, the Segwun and Wenonah.

Next stop was Bala, along with the famous Kea to Bala and Don’s Bakery, I love the little waterfall that flows into the Moon River on its way to Georgian bay. The controlled dam there helps regulate water levels in the Muskoka Lakes—though it isn’t always perfect. Over the years we’ve seen both too much water and not enough. The little town is full of cute little streets and quaint little houses made especially beautiful in the snow.

Back home and the snowshoes are back on as we continue clearing snow. Wish us luck.
