I’m a water person so the only way you can talk me into leaving the ocean/lake is possibly a waterfall, and Alte is known for it’s beautiful little waterfall. This year with all the rain it was still quite ferocious, not quite Niagara Falls, but beautiful in a peaceful kind of way.
Our walk started off in the town, following the river and enjoying all the beautiful painted houses. Up and down little streets, filled with hidden treasures and artwork everywhere.

Heading along the Fonte Grande, there are lots of ducks and they are quite yakky. In the summer this river is filled with people swimming and having picnics. A little too chilly for that today.
We have now seen little blankets decorating trees in a number of towns in the Algarve. It is called “yarn bombing”, it is a colourful way to decorate the area especially during times of festivals and ceremonies. I thought it was to stop drivers from running into the trees lol.

Next stop the beautiful “Fall of the Vicar”, a beautiful waterfall located at the bottom of the town. There is a lovely staircase to walk down, still a good walk, but not as dangerous as the paths can be. Even with all the people there (oh wait, what is it like in the summer lol, haven’t said that in awhile), it gave off a sense of peace.

The drive was full of windy roads and wonderful views, that made the 50 minute drive even more perfect.
These images are wonderful! Every single one made me smile as I scrolled more than once. π
