Carvoeiro might be the most popular town to stay at in the Algarve. You could eat at a delicious different friendly restaurant pretty well every night. This is where we decided to set our home base for 3 weeks in March.
Our apartment looked out on the Praia do Vale de Centeanes right on the boundary of Carvoeiro. Our view was spectacular. Our place was a little dated, but we loved it. Our door was basically the halfway mark for the famous 7 Hanging Valley Hikes.
These are just a few of the breathtaking sunsets we witnessed as we enjoyed a glass of the delightful Portuguese wine we discovered.

Our door was basically the halfway mark for the famous 7 Hanging Valley Hikes. The total hike one way is just over 11K. We broke it into bits. Hike to the Alfanzina Lighthouse, hike to Benagil, hike to Praia Marinha, and the last bit for us to the town of Carvoeiro. Not sure why we didn’t do the other side, probably because we were off exploring the little towns around us. Each hike for us was there and back so we managed to get in lots of steps and lots of pictures.

There is so much history in the town of Carvoeiro, it is very hilly. Other than on the beach it felt like you were either going up or down a hill. Quite exhausting actually. Next year I will have to do a little more training before I go lol.

Portugal has done a wonderful job of boardwalks, and trails all through the Algarve. So many of their beautiful spaces and views are now open to walkers, wheelchairs and strollers. Great job. We are already planning on going back next year.
