Picturesque Village of Rosseau

I am retired and have been for awhile. I feel more retired now. My grandkids are bigger and don’t need me as much so I had to find something to occupy me.

I exchanged my big camera for a much smaller and easier to use one. At one point in time I thought I was going to be able to sell my pictures (about 20 years ago) lol. Now I am wandering around everywhere taking pictures of everything. I’m serious pictures of everything, my husband says it takes longer to go for a walk with me than for him to play a round of golf. He’s not invited anymore πŸ™‚

Part of my retirement is doing more day trips and discovering new little parts of this beautiful province. Today I went up to the Village of Rosseau. There has been a lot of renovations and brightening up since the last time I was there.

The Rosseau Waterfall was bursting with water today. About 10 years ago we went up by boat to see it, it was July and barely a trickle of water. It is in between 2 very big cottages so not the easiest place to find, after going down a very scary bumpy road, there was literally 1 parking spot I lucked out, it was just me and the black flies. After climbing over rocks beside the rushing water I managed to make it about 1/2 way before my daytime brain told me I should probably stop, keeping in mind that I did have to get back up. It was a pretty impressive little waterfall with lots of great rock/Canadian Shield features.

All it needed to finish off the quaintness was a few churches and a cemetery that dated back to the 1800s, and a cool barn.

I will definitely be dragging my husband or girlfriends up here for a lunch and bigger hike around this summer and hopefully make it to the bottom of the waterfall.
