Alvor. I loved this beach, when I turned to the right you could walk for miles and then I turned to the left. Oh my goodness all those rocks I had been looking down at on other walks were right there waiting for me to discover. I almost ran to them lol.
Thankfully the tide was out, so we had access to lots of tunnels and holes in the roofs to look through. The blue skies and puffy clouds added a lovely feature to the pictures.
Through every tunnel or cave you could let your imagination run wild with pictures of pirates and smugglers. Forgotten treasure might be buried in them lol. Should have brought our shovels. Next year we will definitely spend more time at this beach, the water was so calm, it was calling to me. A swim is in my future π

Armacao do Pera and Grand Praia. If you like sand and dunes this is the beach for you. I love restaurants on the beach and this beach had lots of them. They were just starting to set up their outdoor patios for the season. I am picturing a very busy place as the weather warms up. Our lunch here matched the surroundings, delish.
The little town had so much character and the water was pounding on the walls of the hotels and restaurants that were built right on the sea wall. I could have spent all day here.

Praia de Falesia and Villamoura. 2 of our favourite restaurants are right on the beach in Villamoura. There is a lovely boardwalk along the ocean. Portugal is so forward thinking with these boardwalks, they open up so many walks for seniors, strollers, bikes and people with disabilities. And they do a good job of blending into the scenery. These beaches are huge and flat and go on forever. Praia de Falesia have beautiful red cliffs running along the beach. You have the option of walking the beach or the cliffs, or both, one on the way out and one back. These cliffs are always changing, you can see the rivulets where the water pours off in the storms. So beautiful.

Quinto dos Lagos is the first place we came to in the Algarve in 2018. This area has masssive houses and beautiful golf courses. Again the boardwalk here is wonderful, it takes you over the marsh out to the ocean. When the tide is out the locals come clamming here. You see them all digging in the dirt with their pails and shovels. This beach again goes forever with lots of dunes. The water here always seems to be very forceful which makes the entrance to the water quite steep.
You can then continue along the boardwalk along the inner marsh with a hut for bird watching and the other way a walk looking for celebrities lol. We haven’t spotted any but had fun speculating lol.

Everyday in the Algarve is an adventure, walking cliffs, looking for sea glass or rocks (which are a little heavy to bring home, but I do lol). Exploring historical sites, discovering how the new world started and eating their beautiful pastries is a part of everyday life when you visit Algarve. Time to start planning the next trip.
